According to the provisional results announced Monday evening by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Chadian President Idriss Deby Itno was re-elected in the first round of the presidential election.

Provisional results without surprise.

The head of state faced opposition candidates who called for a boycott of the ballot.

The Supreme Court will announce the final results on May 15.

The members of the Ceni gave the provisional results province by province.

Almost two hours of declaration which were an accumulation of triumphs for the incumbent president.

At 68 years old, including 31 years at the head of the country, Idriss Déby Itno wins everywhere and comes back for a sixth term with 79.32% of the vote.

This is more than in 2016, where he obtained 61.56%.

For the spokesperson for the ruling party, Jean-Bernard Padaré, "

Former Prime Minister Pahimi Padacket Albert comes in second with 10.32%.

Followed by Lydie Beassemda, the only woman in the running with 3.16% of the votes cast.

The other candidates are below 2%.
