Berlin (dpa) - After the vote of the CDU federal executive for party leader Armin Laschet as candidate for chancellor, the deputy chairman of the Union parliamentary group Thorsten Frei expects a decision on Tuesday on the K issue between the CDU and CSU.

"In any case, it is a crystal-clear statement, which is why I expect that this question will also be resolved today between the two parties, and that this question will be resolved amicably, as it is agreed," said the CDU politician Frei am Tuesday on Deutschlandfunk.

In the special digital session on Tuesday night, 31 out of 46 voting board members voted in a secret ballot for the CDU chairman.

9 voted for CSU boss Markus Söder, 6 abstained.
