Berlin (dpa) - The Füchse Berlin have made it into the Final Four of the European League.

After the 29:32 defeat in the first leg, the Berliners won the quarter-final second leg on Tuesday evening in front of empty stands in the Max-Schmeling-Halle after a strong performance against Montpellier HB with 31:23 (16:13).

The best Berlin thrower was the outstanding Hans Lindberg, who hit all of his throws and scored twelve goals.

Tim Matthes scored six goals.

With the Foxes, captain Paul Drux returned after a long break from injury.

The Berliners got off to a good start.

The defense was stable and after almost seven minutes at 4: 1, the deficit from the first leg was already equalized.

But then the hosts made some ball losses, which Montpellier punished coldly.

But when the score was 7: 7, the foxes put down a 5-0 run.

Thanks to strong saves from keeper Dejan Milosavljev, it was now the Berliners who punished every mistake by the French.

Up to 14: 8 they moved away, but the guests came back and shortened again until the break.

The foxes came out of the cabin well and pulled away again at 23:16.

The defense repeatedly presented the guests with difficult tasks, and the French often failed because of Füchse keeper Milosavljev.

Almost seven minutes before the end, the lead was even nine goals (29:20).

That was the preliminary decision.

Then the foxes confidently brought the game close to home.
