"The Foreign Ministry, on behalf of the national government, handed an official note to the Russian ambassador in Bogota, in which it expressed our energetic protest in connection with the situation provoked by a Russian plane that violated Colombian airspace on April 19," she said on Twitter.
The minister claims that Russian aircraft have repeatedly failed to comply with the conditions specified in the permits issued by the Colombian aviation authorities.
According to her, Tavdumadze was informed of the importance of an immediate response from his government and the need to ensure that “serious and systematic violations” are not repeated.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Colombia reported that it was lifting fighters into the air to intercept the Russian aircraft.
According to the ministry, he had permission to fly, but the actual coordinates of the entrance to the airspace of the republic differed from those declared.
