Erfurt / Jena (dpa / th) - Representatives of the Thuringian economy are open to corona vaccinations in companies. "The companies have a very great interest in ensuring that they get safety in their operations through vaccinations," said the managing director of the Erfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cornelia Haase-Lerch, of the German press agency. "Especially since simplified access to vaccinations would also increase employees' willingness to vaccinate." It is important to organize vaccinations in the companies in such a way that even small companies without their own company doctor can offer them to their employees.

Serial vaccinations directly in the companies are currently being discussed nationwide.

However, this is not yet possible due to the limited vaccine stocks and the sequence of vaccinations (prioritization) that has been determined.

In Thuringia, the predominantly small-scale corporate structure also plays a role, as Haase-Lerch said.

"Not every company has a permanent company doctor."

The IHK Erfurt therefore advocates cooperation between companies - with vaccination contact points in larger companies, in which employees of smaller companies could also be injected.

Because of corona vaccinations in companies, the IHK Erfurt contacted the Thuringian Ministry of Health and Labor at the end of March, said Haase-Lerch.

We are still waiting for a reaction.

According to the Association of Business in Thuringia (VWT), companies that do not employ their own company doctor usually cooperate with external providers of occupational medical services.

For example, the Jena technology group Jenoptik relies on a private occupational health service and partners who already support the company with corona rapid tests in the event of vaccinations, as a group spokeswoman announced on request.

The interest of employees in a vaccination is great.

The Attendorn-based company Viega, a manufacturer of sanitary and heating technology with a branch in Großheringen (Weimarer Land), also wants to offer its staff vaccinations and is working with an external occupational health service for this purpose.
