Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The ten CDU direct candidates of the CDU Brandenburg for the federal election thanked CSU boss Markus Söder, who cleared the way for CDU chairman Armin Laschet to be candidate for chancellor.
«(...) Markus Söder also has many supporters in Brandenburg and some members are sure to be disappointed.
Nevertheless, it is good that this question was decided today and that there is now finally clarity, ”said a message from the CDU Brandenburg on Tuesday.
"We would therefore like to thank Markus Söder, not only for his willingness to stand up for the Union, but especially for his commitment to support Armin Laschet and all direct candidates of the Union in this difficult election campaign."
The direct candidates wrote about Laschet: "He was often underestimated and was then able to convince."
Söder had accepted the majority vote of the CDU federal executive for Laschet as candidate for chancellor on Tuesday.
