London / Windsor (AP) - The British Queen Elizabeth II will be 95 years old this Wednesday.

What would have been the occasion for larger celebrations under different circumstances will be celebrated in silence this year.

According to the British news agency PA, she will spend the birthday privately and with a few family members at Windsor Castle.

In addition to the coronavirus pandemic, the main reason is the death of her husband Prince Philip.

The Queen's husband had died on April 9 at the age of 99.

He was buried in a funeral service at Windsor Castle last Saturday.

The Queen had scheduled a two-week mourning period for the Royals.

Last year, the monarch had already given up the usual cannon shots on her birthday because of the pandemic.

That was "not appropriate," she said.

The “Trooping the Color” birthday parade in central London, which always takes place in June because of the better weather, has already been canceled, as in the previous year.

Maybe there should be a small parade in Windsor.

The British, who were last able to admire a celebration with great royal pomp on the 90th birthday of their queen in 2016, will have to wait a little longer before they can celebrate their queen again.

Next year is her 70th anniversary of the throne.
