In Blekinge, you will not find out in advance which vaccine you will receive when you are to be vaccinated.

This has led some to choose to turn in the door and give up vaccines when they have found out that they will receive Astra's vaccine.

- We have developed routines for how the health centers should work in situations like this.

If someone refuses to take the vaccine, the health center then tries to contact other people who are suitable for this vaccine and who are waiting to be vaccinated, all to discard as few doses as possible, says Henrik Magnell who is deputy vaccination coordinator in Region Blekinge.

Henrik Magnell thinks that this type of situation arises is sad, at the same time there is no way to avoid it.

- You have to book on 1177.se and since that information is not there, it is unfortunately not possible to see which vaccine you will get in advance.

Must re-prioritize

The Swedish Public Health Agency's recommendation that Astra's vaccine should continue to be given only to those over 65 affects the vaccine supply in Blekinge.

- We have to re-prioritize as those under 65 who received Astra's vaccine in their first dose must now receive one of the other vaccines when they are to receive their second dose. So it will affect the availability of vaccines, albeit on a smaller scale, says Henrik Magnell.
