Berlin (dpa) - Economics minister Peter Altmaier is working on stricter compliance rules for the auditor supervision Apas after the Wirecard scandal.

The draft for a corresponding regulation is ready and only needs to be signed, said the CDU politician on Tuesday in the parliamentary committee of inquiry into the Wirecard accounting scandal.

He had the impression that Parliament did not insist on statutory regulation, but that a regulation would suffice.

Former Apas boss Ralf Bose had been fired at the beginning of the year after admitting to the committee that he had traded in Wirecard papers himself while the work of the auditors at Wirecard was being checked.

EY's auditors are accused of having failed in the Wirecard case.

They had unreservedly audited the scandal company's balance sheets for years.

The public prosecutor's office assumes, however, that Wirecard has given incorrect numbers in its annual financial statements since 2015.
