Montreux (dpa) - The Executive Committee of the European Football Union decides today on the European Championship hosts and the reform of the European Cup.

In the meeting in Montreux, Switzerland (9.00 a.m.) it should be clarified whether the Bavarian capital Munich may remain co-host without a guarantee for the implementation of the four EM games in front of spectators.

In addition to Munich, where the German national team should play in the group stage, Bilbao and Dublin are the shaky candidates.

Nine hosts have already guaranteed the admission of at least some spectators.

According to reports, the far-reaching reform of the European Cup only needs to be approved.

From 2024, the Champions League will be played in a new mode with 36 instead of 32 participants, which will lead to significantly more games.

Two of the four new places are no longer to be awarded, as has been the case up to now, based on achievements from the previous season.

Instead, the placements of the clubs in the UEFA five-year ranking should be decisive.
