  According to reports, the police later confirmed the identity of the suspect, his name is Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41 years old this year.

  The interim chief of the Austin Police Department, Joseph Chacon, said that it is not clear whether Broderick walked or ran away in a car. The police were worried that he might be hiding somewhere or taking a hostage.

  "Currently, the risk factor is still very high." Chacon said.

  Austin police received a call at about 11:40 noon, saying that there was a shooting in an apartment complex near Great Hills Plaza and The Arboretum shopping center.
