China News Service, April 19th. According to a report by the American Chinese website, a shooting occurred at noon on the 18th local time in a residential area in northwest Austin, Texas, USA, killing three people on the spot, while the gunman is still at large.
According to reports, the police later confirmed the identity of the suspect, his name is Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41 years old this year.
The interim chief of the Austin Police Department, Joseph Chacon, said that it is not clear whether Broderick walked or ran away in a car. The police were worried that he might be hiding somewhere or taking a hostage.
"Currently, the risk factor is still very high." Chacon said.
Austin police received a call at about 11:40 noon, saying that there was a shooting in an apartment complex near Great Hills Plaza and The Arboretum shopping center.
The police said the incident was caused by a dispute within the family.
The three dead include two women and one man, and they all knew the suspect.
A child was also involved but has been found and is now safe.
Police, fire and emergency personnel responded to the scene and dispatched helicopters.
The Austin-Travis County emergency medical department said it was an “attack involving active gunmen”.
The police also reminded people in the area to take shelter on Twitter.
