Israel and Greece signed the largest military deal between them, according to what the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced, within the framework of military and security relations that have strengthened over the past years.

On Sunday, the ministry said that under the deal, the Israeli company, Elbit Systems, would operate a Greek Air Force training center, according to a contract worth about $ 1.65 billion.

The company said that it will provide Greece with new M-346 training aircraft (M-346), and will undertake the maintenance of the Greek Air Force's full training fleet, which includes dozens of M-346 (M-346) and T-aircraft. 6 "(T-6) for about 20 years.

From Ramallah, Al-Jazeera office director Walid Al-Omari said that the deal - which was signed in Athens on Friday - comes within the framework of in-depth military and security cooperation between Israel and Greece, indicating that it moves these relations to a new stage.

He added that Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz celebrated the deal, and saw it as the culmination of long-standing relations and contacts between the two sides.

Over the past years, the Israeli Air Force has participated in exercises hosted by Greece.

Al-Omari indicated that the Israeli military industries are the biggest winner from the deal, given the gains that it will achieve from managing an advanced training center for the Greek Air Force.
