The Top 14 match between Agen and Bordeaux-Bègles, scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed "to a later date" due to several positive cases of Covid-19 within the Girondin workforce, the National Rugby League announced on Wednesday .

This meeting, counting for the 21st day and initially scheduled for Saturday (5:45 p.m.), was postponed by the NRL Competitions Committee after consultation with the Covid-19 Expertise Commission.

On Wednesday, the UBB had canceled a training scheduled for the afternoon at the Musard stadium.

According to Sud Ouest, this cancellation was due to the discovery of several positive cases for Covid-19 detected as part of the monitoring of the professional group three days after the victory of Christophe Urios' men in the Champions Cup quarter-finals at the expense of Racing 92 .

Bordeaux-Bègles had thus qualified for the first time in its history for the semi-final of the Champions Cup and must play it on May 1 against Toulouse.

Following the officialization of this postponement, the UBB indicated in a press release that "as a precaution, training has been suspended and will resume in small groups depending on the results of the next tests which will be carried out. The whole club wishes a speedy recovery to players affected by the virus, "whose identity has not been disclosed.

Since the start of the season, UBB had only been impacted once by the virus, in October before the match against Clermont which had been postponed to mid-January.

Two players were affected, internationals Cameron Woki and Matthieu Jalibert.

Earlier this week, the match between Montpellier and Toulon, scheduled for this Saturday, was postponed after the announcement of several positive cases of Covid-19 in the ranks of the Var.
