Bremen (dpa / lni) - The people in Bremen had to accept lower wages in 2020 due to the development of consumer prices.

As the State Statistical Office announced on Thursday, the real wages of dependent employees fell by 1.1 percent on an annual average compared to 2019.

According to the information, the manufacturing industry was hit particularly hard, where earnings fell by 3.5 percent.

In the service sector, on the other hand, an increase of 0.5 percent was observed.

Without taking inflation into account (nominal), the annual average decline was 0.6 percent.

The short-time work allowance, which cushioned the loss of income for many employees, is not taken into account in the calculations.
