Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Bundesliga soccer club Eintracht Frankfurt announced the separation from sports director Fredi Bobic at the end of the season just one day after the change of coach Adi Hütter.

The contract between Fußball AG and the 49-year-old functionary will be terminated prematurely on May 31, 2021, announced the traditional Hessian club.

Bobic had a contract with Hessen until 2023, but made it clear some time ago that he wanted to leave.

The parties agreed not to disclose the details.

As a result, the club loses its entire athletic management team in the summer.

Head coach Hütter is drawn to Borussia Mönchengladbach, the Austrian signed a contract on the Lower Rhine until 2024. Bobic is also likely to have another job in German professional football in mind, he has been associated with Hertha BSC for several weeks.

Sports director Bruno Huebner also leaves in the summer.

However, he is the only one from the trio whose contract expires regularly and will not be extended.

Ralf Rangnick, who is currently without a club, is being traded as the successor candidate for Hütter and Bobic.

Sky has already reported that the 62-year-old could take over the posts as head coach and sports director in personal union.

Chairman of the supervisory board Philip Holzer is now obliged to close the power vacuum at the club, which is sportingly on the Champions League course.

According to a report in the "Bild" newspaper, a first meeting between Eintracht and Rangnick is planned for Thursday.

In the Bundesliga, Eintracht are currently fourth and have recently won the important games in Dortmund (2-1) and against Wolfsburg (4-3).

With six game days to go, Frankfurt is seven points ahead of Dortmund and nine ahead of Leverkusen.

Eintracht had already gambled away a similarly promising starting position two years ago.
