Any visit to the White House includes a visit to the so-called Lincoln room. Even today, furnished in Victorian style, it was in fact his office. A ghost would still haunt these places! Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower and his wife Eleanor claimed to have sensed his presence. Perhaps he cannot find peace because he was the first president in the history of the United States to be assassinated? This happened on April 14, 1865 at the Ford Theater in Washington. Abraham Lincoln was shot to the back of the neck by a Confederate sympathizer, John Wilkes Booth, while attending a play, "Our American Cousin". He died on April 15 in the morning.
