Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Peter Kraus vom Cleff is the new general manager of the German book trade association.

The 53-year-old will succeed Alexander Skipis (66) on January 1, whose contract ends after more than 15 years.

As the Börsenverein announced on Wednesday in Frankfurt, the decision was unanimous.

Born in Wuppertal, he was most recently commercial director at Rowohlt Verlag.

At the Börsenverein he has been representing the interests of the German book industry as deputy chairman of the publishers' committee since 2012.
