Schwerin (dpa / mv) - With the action days Girls Day and Boys Day on April 22, boys and girls are to be inspired for jobs that they still too rarely take up.
Due to the corona pandemic, the planned events will take place online this year.
Girls can get a taste of mathematical and scientific professions, boys should be encouraged to train as carers or educators, as Minister of Social Affairs Stefanie Drese (SPD) said on Thursday.
"The choice of career is often still shaped by clichés and traditional role assignments," said Drese.
In the social professions, 80 percent of employees are still women.
Lisanne Straka from the German Trade Union Confederation emphasized that attractive working conditions, recognition and appreciation are needed if more young people are to go into care.
