April 15, 2021 The military investigating magistrate also ordered the jail for Walter Biot, the naval officer accused of espionage and already imprisoned on the orders of the ordinary judiciary.

The precautionary measure was requested by the Military Prosecutor of Rome, which investigated Biot for various military crimes: revelation of military secrets, obtaining secret news, taking photographs, all for the purpose of espionage, and obtaining and disclosing information of a Reserved.

Pending the resolution of the question of jurisdiction, there is therefore now a double prison title against Biot.

In a note, the Military Prosecutor of Rome underlines that "the measure, which appeared necessary given the seriousness of the affair, is part of the preliminary investigations carried out in coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Ordinary Court of Rome, with which they are in ongoing contacts aimed at the mutual exchange of information, in view of the acquisition of all the data useful for the complete and rapid definition of the complex problems connected with jurisdiction ".

All this, "without prejudice to the fact that already at the moment, from the point of view of the Military Prosecutor, there are sufficient elements to recognize the existence of the military crimes indicated above, which are certainly the exclusive competence of the military judicial authority".
