Dresden (dpa / sn) - The Free State wants to support institutions and those affected in culture and tourism with a further nine million euros from the Corona coping fund.

They are still hardest hit by the effects of the pandemic and continue to face major restrictions, said the minister responsible, Barbara Klepsch (CDU) in Dresden on Tuesday.

Model projects for a new start in tourism, arts education and animal parks are to be funded.

The state parliament has yet to approve the provision of the money.

Klepsch spoke of an "important signal".

Around two million euros are available for the scientific support of model projects, the maintenance of tourist facilities after a corona-related business failure in 2021 and the implementation of hygiene measures.

Zoos and animal parks are to be supported with around five million euros in bridging financial bottlenecks and securing their preservation.

According to Klepsch, the loss of income will be made up between January 1st and May 31st.

As part of a funding program for independent music schools and extracurricular music and dance lessons, around two million euros are available.

A grant is intended to bridge financial bottlenecks and thus secure the existence of the sponsors.

According to Klepsch, failures were partially offset as early as 2020 in order to maintain these important structures of arts education for which there are no federal programs.
