Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - The Saarland state parliament is today discussing the planned EU agricultural reform and a reorganization of the property tax in Saarland.

Agriculture Minister Reinhold Jost (SPD) wants to report on future agricultural policy under the title “The rural area in Saarland is winning”.

The federal and state ministers of agriculture agreed at the end of March that by 2023 a quarter of EU direct payments to German farmers should be linked to climate and environmental measures.

According to the will of the Agriculture Ministers, this proposal should become part of Germany's national strategic plan for the implementation of the agricultural reform, which Berlin must present to the EU by the end of the year.

The Federal Environment Ministry is still working on a statement.

How much money should be spent on environmentally friendly agriculture is also still a matter of dispute at EU level.

In the first reading, the MPs are discussing a draft law for a state property tax.

In this way, contrary to federal law, the possibility of higher taxation of undeveloped land and business land is created.

For residential properties, however, a lower value should apply, which is also provided for in the federal model for property tax.

The further corona protective measures should also be debated.
