The regional elections are maintained in June but very slightly postponed, by one week.

They will be held from June 20 and 27.

Deputies of all stripes voted largely in favor of this strategy presented by Prime Minister Jean Castex during a debate on Tuesday afternoon in the National Assembly… while calling for guarantees for the campaign.

At the stand, Jean Castex put an end to the suspense: the regional will be shifted but well and truly maintained.

"Certainly it is only one week, one more week of vaccination, or at least 2 million people vaccinated, one more week of preparation, everything counts!", Explained the Prime Minister before the National Assembly on Tuesday .

The regional elections will therefore be organized from June 20 to 27.

"We will never be zoom candidates!"

Jean Castex detailed a number of measures to guarantee the holding of the poll and the campaign.

The latter must be dematerialized as much as possible.

But for some deputies, this has limits.

"A campaign is to meet residents, a campaign is to go to responsible markets, masked but not muzzled," said the Communist deputy and candidate for Normandy, Sébastien Jumel.

Before solemnly declaring: "we will never be Zoom candidates!"

Although allies of the majority, the Modem is the only group where most of the deputies are opposed to the maintenance of the regional ones.

"In a still imperfectly digitized country, a zero Covid campaign, all in digital, would be a zero voter ballot," warned their leader, Patrick Mignola.

Vaccinate before the poll

There are also some concerns about the actual organization of the vote.

Each group goes there with its own proposals.

For the deputy and president of the Republicans, Christian Jacob, it "will be necessary to ensure the safety of our assessors in our polling stations, by vaccinating them".
