Two departures to bring down the anger.

The policewoman who killed the young Daunte Wright, "accidentally", according to the authorities, in the suburbs of Minneapolis, on Sunday, resigned Tuesday, as the chief of the police force Tim Gannon.

This new blunder, in the midst of the trial of Derek Chauvin, tried for the murder of George Floyd, has provoked demonstrations and some violence in the past 48 hours, with around forty people arrested.

In a letter published by his union Law Enforcement Labor Services, Kim Potter, who had worn the uniform for 26 years, said he had "enjoyed every moment" of his career.

“But I believe it is in the best interest of the community and of my fellow officers that I resign immediately.

"

“Oh shit, I shot him!

"

On Monday, Tim Gannon released the footage of Daunte Wright's arrest.

Police arrested the 20-year-old African-American for a license plate problem.

Because he was the subject of an arrest warrant, the police began to handcuff him, but the young man abruptly tried to get back behind the wheel to flee.

It was then that Kim Potter warned twice "I'm going to Taser you", then "Taser, Taser, Taser" before firing his Glock on duty.

"Oh shit, I shot him," she shouts immediately.

For Tim Gannon, it is an "accidental discharge".

The autopsy concluded with a death "by homicide".

However, this is a medical characterization that has no legal weight.

An investigation is underway, overseen by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
