“The nuns will temporarily be accommodated in dwellings provided by benefactors throughout Russia (not only in Yekaterinburg, but also in Moscow, Krasnodar Territory, and other regions of Russia),” the defender said.
According to him, about 200 people left the monastery, including nuns and the flock of ex-schema-abbot Sergius (Romanov).
The lawyer noted that the Sverdlovsk Arbitration Court has not yet made a decision on the transfer of the monastery to the ownership of the Yekaterinburg diocese.
Earlier, the press service of the diocese said that the nuns can choose any other monastery.
As RIA Novosti reported with reference to the lawyers of the former schema-abbot Sergius, law enforcement officers arrived at the monastery and opened "the doors to absolutely all the buildings of the monastery."
On April 5, the Moscow City Court upheld the arrest of former schema-abbot Sergius, who is accused of inducing suicide and violating the right to freedom of religion.
