Lippstadt (dpa) - The lighting and electronics specialist Hella benefited from better business and savings in the third quarter of its financial year.

The company was able to increase both revenue and operating profit between December and February, as the MDax group announced on Wednesday in the Westphalian town of Lippstadt.

While currency- and portfolio-adjusted sales rose by around four percent year-on-year to EUR 1.59 billion, adjusted operating earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased by over a fifth to EUR 104 million.

The bottom line was even a more than tripled surplus of 170 million euros.

However, the company also benefited from a division sale.

Overall, Hella is now somewhat more optimistic about the 2020/2021 financial year ending at the end of May.

CEO Rolf Breidenbach was nevertheless cautious.

"The corona pandemic is far from over."

The same applies to the lack of availability of semiconductors and other components on the market.

"We assume that the situation here will worsen even further in the next few months."
