Last season, around 14,000 electric scooters rolled on the streets and to get rid of the vehicles standing in the way, the ruling politicians in Stockholm now want to place higher demands on companies.

On Thursday, a decision will be made to introduce a requirement for a police permit for the companies that rent out electric scooters.

For each electric scooter, the companies must pay a fee of SEK 1,400 per year, which will give 14 million to the city.

In addition, the parking lots are regulated in several places

The companies that do not comply with the conditions can have the permit revoked or a criminal liability.

The electric scooter company Tier and also Voi are positive that the industry will have a clearer framework, but believe that the fee is too high.
