Bitterfeld-Wolfen (dpa / sa) - The city of Bitterfeld-Wolfen wants to plan festivals and Christmas markets for the second half of 2021.

Then probably "due to the vaccination progress on the one hand and the consistent compliance with the AHA rules plus daily negative corona tests on the other hand, more will be possible again," said Mayor Armin Schenk (CDU) on Wednesday.

The city wanted to enable both the Bitterfeld harbor festival from August 20 to 22 and the Wolfen club and family festival from September 10 to 12, it said.

"Even if both celebrations are a bit smaller according to the current state of affairs, it is still important to us that we send a sign of hope in order to bring some normality back into our lives, taking into account the then applicable rules", emphasized Schenk.

There should also be the Christmas markets in Wolfen and Bitterfeld.
