Christoffer Hedgren says that sales have slowly increased in recent years, even before the pandemic broke out.

The company he runs sells between 120 and 150 vehicles per year.

- The pandemic has made people more than ever look at vacationing at home in Sweden, he says.

When the big fire in Morjärv devoured a couple of hundred motorhomes and caravans, it was noticed directly on the market.

"Could not have happened in a worse situation"

- The first two days after the fire, about 40 customers heard from him, says Hedgren.

His thoughts go first and foremost to the victims:

- It is incredibly sad and we can only regret what has happened.

For our industry, it could not have happened in a worse situation either, the supply of both used and new is already low.

Lack of recreational vehicles throughout the country

The Swedish Caravan Industry Association states that the fire in Morjärv may create a shortage of recreational vehicles throughout the country.

In mid-January, another major accident occurred where a large, former greenhouse in Krokom municipality collapsed - probably due to large amounts of snow on the roof, reported P4 Jämtland.

Even there, a large number of caravans and mobile homes that were stored for the winter were destroyed, and both accidents contribute to making access to recreational vehicles more difficult.
