Bremen (dpa / lni) - The sailing training ship "Germany" is expected to move from Bremen-Vegesack to Bremerhaven.

A majority of the sponsoring association to which the museum ship belongs has spoken out in favor of this, as the newspapers "Weser-Kurier" and "Nordsee-Zeitung" reported on Tuesday.

The club was recently no longer satisfied with the berth on the Weser in Vegesack.

It is hoped that Bremerhaven will attract more visitors to the 86-meter-long three-masted “Germany”.

The last sailing training ship of the German merchant fleet was also built in Bremerhaven in 1927.

The seaside city would like to have a large sailing ship again as an attraction in its port.

The previous landmark, the barque “Seute Deern”, is currently being scrapped.

For the German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven, the cargo sailing ship “Najade” from 1888 is to be rebuilt as a museum ship that is not suitable for navigation.
