Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The criticism of the self-test procedure in schools in North Rhine-Westphalia does not stop.

The state parents' conference reported on Tuesday that there was "enormous resistance" to the tests.

With a view to their handling, data protection and fear of exposure, a child should get a positive result in front of other classmates.

In addition, the exception promised by the Ministry of Education that pupils with special needs are allowed to test themselves at home under the supervision of their parents, is not accepted by some special needs schools.

“It is unreasonable that parents should then go to the public test centers with their disabled children twice a week,” criticized LEK chairwoman Anke Staar.

In any case, it is the weakest children who “fall down again”.

In some cases, there is currently no domestic help or care offers for them.

Classes in North Rhine-Westphalia have been taking place as homeschooling since Monday.

Only final classes are allowed to attend schools and emergency care is available to children up to sixth grade.

In face-to-face operations, all students have to do a Corona self-test twice a week.

According to SPD parliamentary deputy Jochen Ott, however, they are “extremely impractical” because teachers on site would have to lend a hand for each individual test and refill them.

From the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of the Interior, which ordered the tests, it was said: 18.6 million tests had been ordered for schools by the end of April.

"The state government provided early and transparent information about the type and handling of the rapid tests in school emails at the beginning of the month."

The test liquid is always intended for ten individual tests - and that must be divided up on site before use.

Any remaining control fluid is not wasted either, but can be used for tests by other learning and support groups.
