Video streaming services are now a dime a dozen - and they all promise a large selection, exclusive content and low subscription prices.
Nevertheless, there are differences that you should be aware of in order to find out which platform reflects your own film, series and documentary tastes particularly well and best suits your personal expectations in terms of price, video quality and availability.
Best streaming service: There's more to it than just Netflix or Amazon Prime
While streaming services such as HBO Max and Hulu are also celebrating their triumphant advance in the USA and the offer within the competitive industry is significantly larger there, viewers in this country are also spread across several large platforms.
If you want to stream cheaply, you can watch the free content from TV Now and Joyn in Germany.
In addition, the media libraries from ARD, Arte, ZDF and Co. are recommended - the public law pages are co-financed by the broadcasting fee and are therefore accessible to everyone.
For big blockbusters and series on demand, however, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV +, Disney + and Sky Ticket are still the best places to go.

Streaming services: comparison shows big differences
If you look at the streaming services in comparison, it becomes clear that there are major differences.
For viewers who value a lot of variety, Netflix or Prime are unbeaten.
You can currently score points with the largest offer.
In addition, a lot of new content is added every month - including regular high-quality originals with addictive potential.

Apple TV + can also show its first good originals, but in general it still has to catch up significantly in terms of content.
Disney +, on the other hand, is increasing its range with the new Star brand and is doubling its range with numerous other films and series for an adult audience.
In addition, high-quality documentaries as well as films and series on the subject of “Star Wars” and the Marvel universe can be accessed in the National Geographic area.
The advantage of Sky Ticket: In addition to Sky Originals, many HBO productions can also be seen here exclusively - a unique selling point that also makes this streaming service interesting.
The costs at a glance
For many paid streaming services, a monthly subscription is now standard.
Netflix offers three different subscription models from 7.99 to 17.99 euros per month - the price here depends on how many devices can be used with the account at the same time and which video quality is preferred.

Amazon, on the other hand, gives you access to Prime Video for € 7.99 a month or € 69 a year with a Prime membership.
However, some channels, films and series cost extra.

With Sky Ticket, the subscription price is based on the selected package.
Pure entertainment with series costs € 9.99 per month - series and films (in the Entertainment & Cinema package) cost € 14.99.
The Sport and Supersport packages are also available for EUR 9.99 and EUR 29.99 per month.
Quality and app availability
When it comes to 4K, you don't have to choose between Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV +, Netflix or Disney Plus.
Only Sky Ticket does not currently offer an option to view content in 4K.
In addition, all major providers now offer an app for smartphones.
Only with smart TV does it depend on which TV you own.
With a look at the app menu you can see which program is supported.
Here, however, Netflix and Prime are now standard.
