Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The Left parliamentary group in the Brandenburg state parliament has spoken out in favor of uniform nationwide regulations in the fight against the corona pandemic and a longer hard lockdown.

"We want a hard lockdown in the coming weeks and finally involve the economy," said parliamentary group leader Sebastian Walter on Tuesday in the state parliament.

It is unacceptable that strict restrictions, including curfews, are adopted in the private sector and that mere appeals remain in the economic sector, criticized Walter.

The planned draft law of the federal government on nationwide rules based solely on the regional number of infections will bring little success, said the parliamentary group leader.

The draft law gives no answer to a better test strategy and an acceleration of vaccination, he criticized.

"And just focusing on the 7-day incidence leads to a back and forth in opening and closing of stores," said Walter.

"This puts us in the risk of a swing lockdown, with no one knowing which rules are currently in force in which district."

Walter referred to the state capital Potsdam, where the shops can reopen on Wednesday because the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants has fallen below 100 for three days within a week.

In such cases, the municipality must also have the option of maintaining the lockdown if this 7-day incidence could foreseeably rise again to over 100 in a few days, Walter demanded.
