The joy makers in Egypt receive Ramadan by distributing lanterns

3 Egyptian youths received Ramadan in a special way, when they decided to present lanterns as gifts to people passing by in the streets, which made them talk of communication platforms in the past days.

Video clips, posted on the TikTok platform, showed young people trying to pretend to want peace to passers-by, then suddenly open their hands and present small lanterns along with electronic rosaries and perfume packages.

The clips have spread widely across platforms in Egypt, after millions of views were recorded via Tik Tok.

In a recorded video clip posted on Facebook, the three friends - called The Joy Makers - narrated the story of this initiative, which came as a surprise to them, stressing that they did not expect this great spread.

British Prime Minister congratulates Muslims on the arrival of Ramadan

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson congratulated Muslims on the advent of Ramadan in a tweet on his official Twitter account.

"A blessed Ramadan for everyone who witnesses Islam's holiest month this year," Johnson said in his tweet.

Johnson stressed the need for social distancing, saying, "I fear that it is necessary to follow precautionary measures again this year to stay safe, but I hope that fasting, prayer and charity in this month will bring much peace and reward to all Muslims."
