Stuttgart (AP) - Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann does not want to interfere in the competition in the Union for the candidacy for chancellor.

"I think they already have enough to do with themselves," said the Green politician on Tuesday in Stuttgart.

"But it's exciting."

He said he did not believe that the duel between CDU federal party leader Armin Laschet and CSU chairman Markus Söder would have any impact on the coalition negotiations in Baden-Württemberg.

After the state elections a month ago, the Southwest Greens, the clear winner at Kretschmann's insistence, decided to sound out a second term in office with the weakened CDU.
