“A criminal case has been initiated against a 53-year-old resident of North Ossetia under the article of the Criminal Code of Russia“ taking hostages, ”the Investigative Committee said.

According to the investigation, on April 12, in the afternoon, the suspect, threatening with a fake IED and a knife, held 11 people hostage for about an hour, demanding that the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the republic contact him.

The suspect was arrested, no one was hurt.

“In the near future, the investigators will apply to the court with a petition to choose the detainee as a preventive measure in the form of detention,” the Investigative Committee noted.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the police detained a man in Vladikavkaz who broke into a store and held 11 people there, including minors.
