Crailsheim (AP) - The Finnish head coach Tuomas Iisalo will leave the Hakro Merlins Crailsheim at the end of the season.

The Baden-Württemberg Bundesliga basketball team announced this on Tuesday.

His successor will be the current coach of the Hessian league rival Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt, Sebastian Gleim.

“It was an unbelievable five years in Crailsheim.

We have had a lot of great moments together, but all good things come to an end at some point, ”said Iisalo.

"I don't know yet what the future of my family and I will look like, but right now my full focus is on the end of the season, which we want to finish as strongly as possible."

The Crailsheimers are sure to have their first playoff participation.

Last year they took part in the final tournament of the last ten teams, which was held instead of a regular knockout round due to the corona pandemic.

Those responsible have been working on the orientation for the future for several weeks, as the club announced.

“The most important building block for this planning is the position of the head coach.

In this regard, it was important to us to have planning security at an early stage, ”said the sporting director Ingo Enskat.

"Tuomas was the first point of contact for us, but we respect that he could not make up his mind at this point."
