Stuttgart / Baden-Baden (dpa / lsw) - The Court of Auditors recommends that the state increase the tuition fees for students from abroad.

In a test report, an adjustment “every five years to the cost development” starting with the winter semester 2022/23 is recommended, reported the “Badische Tagblatt” (Tuesday).

Currently, the fees for students who do not come from the EU are 1500 euros per semester.

The Court of Auditors confirmed the existence of the report but did not want to comment on it.

The recommendation is currently with the universities and the Ministry of Science, which can now comment on it.

According to the newspaper report, the examiners see the tuition fees "as a modest contribution to the costs of each study place, for which the state pays several times more, depending on the subject."

The Court of Auditors also advises to limit the administrative burden and examine exceptions more carefully.
