This Tuesday April 13, in front of the deputies, Jean Castex will announce the maintenance of the elections in June.

A government source confirms this to RFI.

"All the elements agree in the direction" of maintenance, adds this adviser to the executive: the scientific council did not ask for a postponement.

The opposition is almost unanimous in voting in June and then

this hasty consultation of mayors

last weekend has placed the government against the wall.

The last green light

According to the results released opportunely by the Ministry of the Interior, of the 24,000 mayors who responded, 56% say they are in favor of maintaining the regional in June, against 40% for a postponement.

It was the last green light expected by Emmanuel Macron.

What sanitary conditions?

It remains to be seen in what sanitary conditions these elections will take place.

Many rural mayors are already worried about the difficulties in vaccinating or testing the assessors who will officiate in the polling stations.
