Recklinghausen (dpa / lnw) - The actor couple Martin Brambach (53, “Tatort”) and Christine Sommer (50, “Alisa - Follow your heart”) experienced first hand the consequences of closed classrooms in the corona pandemic.

The two actors - who live in Recklinghausen in the Ruhr area - described their current situation in an open letter to the North Rhine-Westphalian school minister Yvonne Gebauer (FDP).

"Our 10-year-old son was allowed to attend school for five whole days in 2021," the couple reported.

The previous school year didn't look much better either.

"After four months of lockdown he can hardly be persuaded to study alone and he lacks personal contact."

The actors said the situation before the Easter break - in the so-called alternating classes with occasional visits to schools - was a relief.

But now the situation has changed again.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, homeschooling began again after the holidays - with the exception of the final classes.

"Many families are emotionally and psychologically at the end, the child psychologists have been sounding the alarm for months," wrote Brambach and Sommer.

They demanded from the school minister: "In order to enable our children and young people to socialize and learn in the community again, we urge you to reopen the schools in North Rhine-Westphalia!"
