Today begins Ramadan, but how much you can celebrate this year varies from country to country.

Due to the corona pandemic and varying restrictions, the celebration has been set up differently in different countries.

- Here in Lebanon, for example, a curfew begins from 9.30 pm during Ramadan, precisely because you want to avoid the spread of infection, says SVT's Middle East correspondent Stina Blomgren.

May only make a pilgrimage if you have been vaccinated

Usually, millions of people do umra during Ramadan and make a pilgrimage to Mecca.

But this year it looks different.

- The number admitted to Mecca is very limited, about 50,000 pilgrims per day.

And only those who are vaccinated or can show that they have antibodies can do umra this year.
