Hanover (dpa / lni) - Before establishing binding nationwide Corona rules for hotspots, Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) emphasized the need for an emergency brake.

He thinks the system that Lower Saxony has already consistently implemented is correct, Weil said on Monday in Hanover.

In this respect, he does not see any restriction on national competence in the federal rules that are being voted on, and in terms of political content he does not have any particular feeling of disturbance.

Since Lower Saxony has already issued stricter rules than agreed between the federal government and the states, there is no great need for change in the state.

"It has always been important to me that we have agreed regulations between the federal and state governments, but which also address different situations," said Weil.

"This emergency brake is part of a step-by-step plan that the federal and state governments have discussed with each other."

He hopes that nationwide binding regulations will ensure legal security when it comes to night curfews.

The country had ordered them for hotspots.

After an urgent decision by the Higher Administrative Court, the Hanover region lifted the curfew that had previously been imposed.
