According to the chemical weapons control authority OPCW, Syrian government troops used chemical weapons in an attack in 2018.

OPCW inspectors confirmed the Air Force's responsibility for the attack in the report published in The Hague on Monday.

Accordingly, a cylinder with chlorine gas was dropped from an army helicopter on February 4, 2018 over the town of Sarakib in the Idlib province.

It broke open and the gas spread over a large area.

Twelve people were injured.

The experts analyzed documents, satellite images and soil samples, among other things.

They also interviewed eyewitnesses and experts.

The experts now state that there are "sound reasons" for the conclusion that the "Tiger Forces" of the Syrian Air Force were responsible for this.

The OPCW had already determined in 2018 that chlorine gas had been used.

However, it was later commissioned by the member states to determine who was responsible.

In the first report last year, the team blamed the Syrian army for three other poison gas attacks.

So far, the Syrian government has denied these allegations.
