Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, praised the growth of trade exchange with Turkey during the last five years by more than 100%.

This came during the meeting of the President of the Qatar Chamber yesterday, Sunday, with the President of the Turkish Association of Independent Businessmen and Industrialists "Musiad" Abdul Rahman Kan.

The Chamber's president said that the value of trade exchange between the two countries amounted to 1.91 billion dollars in 2020, compared to about 900 million dollars in 2016, as reported by the Qatar News Agency (QNA).

The two sides reviewed ways to enhance trade and investment cooperation between Turkey and Qatar and the available investment opportunities in the two countries, as well as the possibility of cooperation between the Qatari private sector and its Turkish counterpart in establishing joint investments abroad.

For his part, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani said that the Qatari-Turkish relations have witnessed a great development in recent years, which has greatly affected the cooperation between the business sectors in the two countries.

He pointed out that there are hundreds of Turkish companies operating in the Qatari market in partnership with Qatari companies in various economic sectors, especially in trade, contracting, services and hospitality.

He pointed out that the Qatari private sector sees Turkey as an attractive investment destination, stressing the desire of Qatari businessmen to invest there, as well as their desire to establish alliances with their Turkish counterparts to benefit from Turkish experiences in establishing joint investments outside the two countries, especially in the African continent that is rich in investment opportunities. Feasible.

Joint factory

For his part, President of the "Musiad" Association, Abdul Rahman Kan, said that "the association wishes to establish close cooperation relations with the Qatar Chamber, to enhance mutual investments between businessmen from the two countries, and to establish commercial partnerships in various sectors."

He explained that there is a desire among many Turkish businessmen to invest in various sectors in Qatar, noting that a study was conducted to establish a food industries factory in Qatar with a joint Qatari-Turkish capital, so that it not only targets the Qatari market, but the markets of the Middle East region.

According to a statement published by the "Musiad" Association, Kan confirmed that they were striving to surpass the planned goal of reaching $ 5 billion in trade volume between Turkey and Qatar, according to Anadolu Agency.
