Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The start of the Luca app for contact tracking of corona infections in Rhineland-Palatinate is still in its infancy.
"We are in the process of creating the technical prerequisites in the background," said the spokeswoman for the Westerwaldkreis, Alexandra Marzi, on Monday of the German Press Agency in Mainz at the official start of the project in six model districts.
"The contact tracking is still manual."
The first institutions have already registered for Luca, but now it depends on how things go with incidences and the lockdown, she said with a view to the upcoming decisions in Berlin.
"I don't need a Luca app if nothing is open."
"We're still waiting for the signal that we can get started," said the head of the Corona staff unit in Bad Kreuznach, Ron Budschat - also a model region.
"We have been waiting for a response from the company for days."
He is looking forward to the first step of digitization in contact tracking.
How well the app will be used remains to be seen.
Andre Walgenbach, operator of the comic and anime shop XStore in Bad Kreuznach, has already registered on the operator's website.
"It takes two minutes."
He's already tested it with his own app.
"It works smoothly."
He hopes customers will accept the app well.
In the small shops in particular, “the paperwork is very time-consuming” to keep track of contacts in the event of an infection.
“With the Luca app, you simply scan in using the QR code and you are automatically checked in.
And as soon as you leave the store or a certain area, you are automatically checked out again, ”enthuses Walgenbach.
"It saves tons of paperwork."
In the small shops in particular, customers often only stayed a few minutes.

In the Ahrweiler district, however, the Luca app has been tracking since March 26, as district spokeswoman Carolina Wicher said.
First experiences are very positive.
Demand is increasing, both for the locations that take part and for the number of hits.
Like Ahrweiler, the Rhein-Lahn district and the Bad Dürkheim district are already entered on the map of the Luca app, the other three model regions are still missing.
«We are ready to go.
The interface to the health department is in place, ”says Sina Müller from the Bad Dürkheim district.
A few companies have already registered.
"But there was still no positive case among them today."
On the homepage of the Rhein-Lahn district it says: "The provision for the operation of the Luca app was technically implemented by the district health department."
Businesses and private individuals can now register and use the app.
The Mayen-Koblenz district's homepage reads: "With the Luca app, an innovative digital instrument for contact registration and tracking will be used in the Mayen-Koblenz district and the city of Koblenz from the end of April."
And: "The Luca system connects guests, businesses and the health department and also makes it possible to document private events."

The Luca app in conjunction with the Sormas software in the health authorities is a prerequisite for becoming a model region for cautious opening in lockdown.
Other criteria are a seven-day incidence of less than 50 and a regionally effective and verifiable rapid test concept.
The aim is to completely document contacts in the event of a coronavirus infection.
If you download the free app, you provide your contact details once and can then show your smartphone in the restaurant, for example, the data is encrypted and transmitted electronically to the health department in the event of infection.
