Last week, week 14, almost 1,500 (1,469) cases of covid-19 were found in Dalarna.

This is the highest figure so far in Dalarna.

During week 53, which was previously the week with the most cases found, the figure was 1,266.

- It's not good.

The spread of infection continues and last week is the highest week that has been measured, says assistant infection control doctor Helena Ernlund.

It is only in a few municipalities that the infection decreased last week, in the vast majority the number of cases found increases.

- It has decreased in a few municipalities, but it is increasing almost everywhere, says Ernlund.

The largest increase last week can be seen in Falun, but 300 new cases, almost doubling from the week before.

- Even in Borlänge, we see that it is increasing again, after it looked like it was going down there, says Ernlund.

Anxiety when many return to work and school

And there is now a concern that cases will increase even more when many return to school and work after the Easter break.

- We have seen before that it increased when you come back after leave.

And when we see that it has increased so much now during the holidays, of course it means that there is a risk that it will increase even more, says Helena Ernlund.

Discusses distance education with the municipalities

On Tuesday, infection control Dalarna will have a meeting with the municipalities about how the teaching will be conducted in the future.

Schools have previously been recommended to continue with distance education to the same extent as before.

- We have not yet discussed whether distance education should be expanded or not.

We have just received the latest statistics, so we will look at them and discuss.

We are looking at the local infection situation.

It is important to go to school and we will not recommend more distance education unless it is absolutely necessary, says Ernlund.
