The man had got into oncoming traffic while turning his vehicle on Sunday afternoon and had collided with an oncoming motorhome.
Then his car ended up in the ditch, as the police announced on Sunday.
The 77-year-old driver was trapped in his car by the impact and had to be rescued by the rescue workers.
He was seriously injured and taken to a hospital.
An alcohol test showed a value of 1.5 per thousand.
The man had to surrender his driver's license.
The 67-year-old driver of the motorhome was not injured.
