Ingelheim (dpa / lrs) - Telephone fraudsters in the Mainz-Bingen district tried to get money through false calls for corona vaccinations.

As the district administration announced on Monday, for example, an alleged employee of the Mainz health department called a citizen and threatened him with a fine if he did not show up for a vaccination appointment.

The Mainz-Bingen district warned against giving out bank details, among other things.

The calls were not made on behalf of the health department, it said.

"Vaccinations are currently only carried out in the vaccination centers and general practitioners' practices as well as by the mobile vaccination teams."

No vaccinations are possible in the health department itself.

"There is also no fine for cancellation or no-show at the appointment," said the district.
