Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - Many corona vaccination appointments in Hessian vaccination centers are still not taken - and then not canceled.

As the city of Wiesbaden announced on Monday upon request, every fourth vaccination appointment is missed and almost all of them (95 percent) are not canceled beforehand.

If a cancellation is made, the reason given is usually that the vaccine from Astrazeneca should be injected.

So that no vaccine goes unused, there is an emergency list, explained the Wiesbaden city council.

In addition, the scheduling is adjusted daily.

"Unfortunately, appointments were not kept on the weekend either," said the Darmstadt-Dieburg district.

The municipality had reported last week that around 40 to 50 percent of the vaccination appointments with the Astrazeneca vaccine are missed.

Often it is not canceled.

A spokeswoman said that these open vaccination appointments / substances would be entered again into the appointment allocation of the country.

Because vaccination appointments are repeatedly not kept for “various reasons”, the district of Gießen has activated its own online booking portal called “Impfbrücke”.

According to the district administration, canceled appointments should be reassigned quickly and easily and unnecessary storage - or destruction - of vaccines should be prevented.

For those eligible for vaccination, this means the chance to take on a canceled appointment and receive their vaccination earlier.

The offer is valid for people who belong to the first or second priority group and who have already registered with the appointment portal of the state of Hesse.

Registration has been possible since Sunday - and the response was "extremely good," reported a district spokesman.

Within a few minutes of the start, 480 appointments were assigned.

At the moment, only the substance from Astrazeneca is administered.
