Dortmund (dpa) - Sports director Michael Zorc is still confident that the courted top striker Erling Haaland will stay with Borussia Dortmund.
"I like to stick to what the contractual basis looks like and how the direct discussions have been held in the last week," said the 58-year-old in the ARD “Sportschau” broadcast on Sunday.
"We have very clear plans to start the new season with Erling."
Several top European clubs are interested in the 20-year-old Norwegian Haaland.
Most recently, media reports from Spain about a meeting between Haaland's father Alf-Inge and advisor Mino Raiola with Joan Laporta, President of FC Barcelona, caused a stir.
Haaland scored 21 goals in 23 Bundesliga games this season and has already scored ten times in the Champions League.
His contract with BVB runs until 2024.
Zorc was critical of the current sporting situation of the Revierclub in the Bundesliga.
«We pant after, lag behind.
The point average is significantly worse than in previous years, ”he said in view of fifth place in the table.
«This is our main competition.
