April 11, 2021 For about a year he had terrorized his sick sister and the two children of the latter, whom she hosted in her apartment, in the municipality of Palagianello in the province of Taranto, and subjected them to constant harassment.

He often tied his sister to the bed and chained his 25-year-old niece, who tried to rebel.

On one occasion he also tried to set the girl on fire, but her mother and older brother (suffering from mental illness) managed to get in the way, causing the man to lose his lighter.

After the denunciation of the girl and her educator, the police arrested a 49-year-old man, the uncle of the young woman now accused of violence and kidnapping.

The policemen of the Flying Squad of Taranto have reconstructed the history of violence and oppression and notified the "ogre uncle" an order of custody in prison issued by the investigating judge of the Ionian court.

The young victim, who lived in the community until the age of 19, was then reunited with her sick mother and her disabled older brother, who lived in the house of her maternal uncle.

From the very beginning, living together with the landlord had proved difficult.

The man, according to reports to the police, in order to assert his authority did not hesitate to tie the girl's mother - his sister - to the bed and to systematically carry out violence, especially psychic against them.

The man had even gone so far as to drill a hole in the partition wall between his room and that of his niece to pass through the long chain that held the girl down.

Disrespected by not being able to have absolute dominion over his niece, his uncle came to tie her up whenever he was away from home.

In a moment of madness, he even attempted to set the 25-year-old on fire, sprinkling her with flammable liquid while she was chained.

The attempt was unsuccessful only thanks to the providential intervention of the other family members.
